There are three core entities used to represent an insurance contract:
  • policies: contains the contract details between the insurer and the insured, such as period duration, start date and end date. Linked to one or more assets.
  • assets: contains information about the covered risks, coverage, and quotes.
  • customers: contains information about the policy holder, their payment methods, and so on. Linked to one policy (but we’re working on linking customers to multiple policies of different products !)

Entity Creation

All entities start in the CREATED status with an open branch. The branch is a receptacle for all modifications you perform of your entities, serving as a way to save your current project. During this phase, you can edit entity attributes and ask for a quote on this branch.
If you wish to abandon the current project, you can simply create a new project; if you move forward with the new project till signature, all old projects will automatically be invalidated.
Typically this is when our integrations help fill in additional information about your customer and assets, see our integrations overview for a list of currently supported integrations.

Quoting your Policy

Once you have filled in all necessary information, you can view quotes for different coverages. This is calculated live so it is easy to test and compare different coverages and fees to see how they affect the final quote. Once you’re happy with a proposition, you can lock in that quote. The policy will become QUOTED. In this status, you can no longer modify pricing attributes. You can choose which attributes are pricing using our customization options. If for any reason you want to modify a pricing attribute, Korint lets you create a new project copied from your current one, so that you do not have to fill in all the information again: simply change what you need, and lock in a new quote.

Confirming your policy

You can keep modifying non pricing information on your project when your policy is QUOTED. You elect to generate documents at any time during the new business funnel using our documents module, but typically we’ve noticed that additional information on top of the quote is needed for most contract documents. When you’re ready, you can CONFIRM your policy, preventing all further modifications of any attributes. The policy is now ready to be signed. If for any reason you need to modify an attribute, like at the quote step Korint lets you create a new project copied from your current one so you only need to change what you need.

Signing your policy

You can either sign the policy directly in the funnel, or send a signature link by email to the policy holder. You can configure which documents should be signed or viewed at this step and Korint will automatically verify these documents are correctly generated for you. For example, you may want
  • contract to sign
  • general terms and conditions to view at the same time, but no need to sign
  • a sepa mandate to sign, if the customer uses SEPA to pay
Korint offers multiple signature methods including email signatures, in-person (phygital) signatures, and enhanced security with SMS verification. Learn more about all available signature options. Once the documents are signed, the policy will automatically change status to SIGNED. All other projects you had for this policy will immediately be abandoned; all future modifications must be done through our modifying live contracts flow.

Starting your policy

A policy can either start immediately on signature, or its start date is calculated based on its assets’ start dates. If a policy is SIGNED, it automatically transitions to STARTED once the start date has passed. The assets will each become STARTED depending on their start date. Policies and assets will never start unless the policy is signed. For example,
  • a policy marked as start on signature is signed on 23/05/25 11h45, it starts immediately.
  • a policy has 300 assets starting at different dates. The earliest asset starts at 23/05/25 11h45, so that is the policy start date. If you sign that policy on the 22/05/25, the policy remains as SIGNED until the start date is passed. Other assets might have a start date in June; in that case they will all start individually once their start dates are passed.
